I know this is going to sound nuts, but I swear to god I have done that many, many times before. Even though aluminum bats were the norm by the late 70’s/early 80’s, I played my entire 12 year (’76-’88) little league/pony league/senior league baseball ‘career’ using a real Louisville Slugger ash wood bat. (much more on that to come later in the week)
I can’t honestly explain why you would lick your bat like that (without sounding certifiable), but I know I personally did it when I needed a big hit.
Maybe I should just shut up now.
