Part 1:
Part 2:
Random thoughts on the first press conference of Peppers, Taylor and Manumaleuna, because writing actual coherent sentences is for people with brains.
Ø I know after Cutler last year, I shouldn’t get too excited over off-season moves, but it’s hard not to get jacked up over these three guys, Peppers especially.
Ø I love how Chester Taylor just wants to assume that, you know, tiny little Marshall Faulk role in Mike Martz’ offense.
Ø Matt Forte’s kind of a prima donna, and it will be good to have a legit RBBC.
Ø All three are intelligent guys in their own way.
Ø Taylor is definitely the most selfish, but that’s not always a bad thing. Maybe he’s just the most honest.
Ø It seems Rod Marinelli was a huge draw for Peppers as a well-respected defensive line coach in the league. A sentiment that was echoed over on Yardbarker yesterday by Bears standout safety Kevin Payne, who has a post titled: Showin’ Some Love for Rod Marinelli, the Bears’ D-Coordinator.
Ø Lovie Smith really stepped up and fought for his team and indeed his job by getting his butt to North Carolina and escorting Peppers in person back to Chicago. Real, honest leadership outta Lovie. Damn nice to see.
Ø Manumaleuna was asked the question of the day toward the very end of part two. He was asked if TE’s in a Mike Martz offense sometimes take a back seat as pass receivers. Manumaleuna had an awkward look on his face for a second, knowing his response would be dissected as a referendum on the future of the Bears current ‘catch first/block last’ TE Greg Olsen. Manumaleuna handled the question perfectly, even after his initial uncomfortable laughter. The kid is smart.
