The state Senate in Missouri is finally coming to its collective sense, having voted unanimously to remove Mark McGwire’s sullied name from a section of Interstate 70, originally meant to honor his home run total from 1998.
Now that McGwire has proven to be a long time illegal drug abuser who is seemingly allergic to the truth, lawmakers in the ‘Show-Me State’ have chosen to rename the stretch of road in honor of Missouri’s favorite son, Mark Twain.
Twain, a legendary American satirist and the unparalleled social commenter of the 19th century, would have had a field day with a sanctimonious sack of huckleberry shit like McGwire.
Now, if only “the best fans in baseball” would get their heads outta their asses too. Cardinals fans have legitimate heroes like Stan Musial and Ozzie Smith to worship. They would do well by the game they pretend to love by demanding McGwire’s immediate resignation. St. Louis Cardinals fans are like Sarah Palin followers. Both sets know deep down that they support a national laughingstock, but they are far too stubborn to admit it. (AP)
