How about our boy Teddy Lilly last night taking the game into his own hands and steam-running over Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina?
This is EXACTLY the kind of fiery leadership the Cubs have been sorely lacking this season. What’s up with that anyway?
Can we get a little fire from a position player?
The guy the team should naturally look to is Derrek Lee…but he has made it more than clear he wants no part of acting as an on-field leader. Ramirez? Hasn’t done it. Soriano? Puh-leez. Fukudome? 彼は英語は話せない Soto has shown some flashes, but he’s still a kid.
Mark DeRosa was an ivy-league QB, but he seems a little too aloof to get a fire going under his guys. The Riot needs to concentrate on his career-year.
So, who’s the Cubs leader?
Someone…other than a pitcher…needs to kick this team to life for the stretch run. Now.
