Kansas City erstwhile stud RB Larry Johnson is frustrated by his lack of touches and feels he is being phased out of the ‘offense’, as the Chiefs begin to look like the worst team in the NFL, what with their ‘QBBC’ system and a pathetic, embarrassing 23-8 loss to Oakland on Sunday.
“I’ve got to sit back and figure that the writing is on the wall, that this season or next season could be my last season as a Chief,” Johnson said. “I don’t know. But obviously if they’re making personnel changes now and I’m not even in for any of the snaps to (try to) help win this game, then that pretty much says it all.
“I’m not dumb. I know what’s going on. I sense what’s going on. Nobody should run the ball if it isn’t me. I always felt that way. If I’m not getting the ball, then I should be tired. If I’m not tired and I’m not getting the ball, then there’s something going on. I’ve just got to deal with it.”
That’s the problem with LJ…always blaming someone else instead of looking inward. 12 carries for 22 yards? That really fucking blows. Perhaps they didn’t put you in the game because your ‘tippy-toe’ style of running the ball is completely ineffective.
Chiefs coach Herm Edwards must make Johnson watch video after video of hard, punishing runners like Walter Payton, Earl Campbell and Jerome Bettis. LJ keeps thinking he’s more like an Emmitt Smith who could dance a bit as he hit the hole, then slam forward at full speed to pick up 6 years in a cloud of dust. He’s not.
When you start to average more than 1.8 yards per carry…then, they just might think about giving you more touches with the game on the line.
