Mike McCarthy doesn’t understand his place in Packers history.

Let’s get one thing perfectly straight…Mike McCarthy isn’t Vince Lombardi.

He isn’t bigger than his franchise’s greatest player either, although that’s sure what it seems as if he’s saying when he informed Brett Favre he would be ‘just one of 80’.

This guy doesn’t even have a job without Favre, yet McCarthy has the unmitigated gall to tell one of the greatest players in NFL history he has to compete for the one job at which he is better than any single person in the history of humankind?

We know we’re sending mixed signals here because Favre is definitely an attention whore who desperately wanted to be begged into a triumphant return…but so fucking what? Is treating one dude, who single-handedly put what was a PATHETIC franchise back on the map, differently than the other 79 historical footnotes really so hard?

That’s obviously all Favre really wanted.
