‘The Big Show’ is back on NBC’s ‘Football Night in America’.

NBC is announcing they have hired former longtime ESPN anchor Dan Patrick to co-host the new fall Sunday night must-see ‘Football Night in America’ and run the day’s highlights with former on-screen counterpart Keith Olberman.

The move reunites Patrick & Olbermann for the first time on TV since 1997, when Olbermann walked on ESPN (and the rest of us) due to a contract dispute.

This is very, very cool news. Dan & Keith were the prototype pop culture sports anchor icons around the type of which most sports programming is based today.

They were the coolest of the cool…the hippest of the hip. Now, they’re old dudes and Olbermann is a liberal hero while Patrick writes a column for SI and does some radio.

It will be nice to have them back where they belong…snarking it up together on TV and yapping sports.

From way downtown…Bang.
