Chicago Bears Tommie Harris, who just yesterday signed the richest DT contract in NFL history, says today that the negotiations were ‘businesslike and classy’.
“We didn’t try to go out there and talk about one another or dispute different things, and I feel like we did it all in-house,” Harris said.
“I would never go out and talk about the Bears in front of the media or disrespect my team.”
That is a direct shot at Brian Urlacher and his Lamborghini-smashing, bitch-boy Lance Briggs. Harris has long been one of the independent, intelligent thinkers (along with Hunter Hillenmeyer) on the Bears, and it shows in his unexpected success with this recent contract extension.
You show public respect toward the team which has made you rich and famous beyond your wildest dreams.
Hopefully, more teammates will take the ‘Harris’ approach to contract negotiations, rather that the ‘Urlacher’ tack.
