The entire media world was simply atwitter when a racist, misogynist website named ‘thedirty.com’ pretended it had an ‘exclusive conversation’ with Oakland Raiders loser WR Javon Walker after he was found unconscious, beaten and robbed on a Vegas street last week.
Now, the lies regarding Walker alleged comments as told to the cowardly website publisher are beginning to come undone.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas Metro police have surveillance video of Walker getting into a car on his own power the morning before he was found.
Surprise, surprise.
Las Vegas TV station KVBC-TV published a statement last week from the MGM-Mirage, owner of the Bellagio Hotel, which reads: “The facts that have been reported regarding the incident involving Javon Walker are incorrect. I am unable to provide further detail out of respect for the Metro investigation which is currently underway.”
We have posted some exclusive info on this space before, but it has all been confirmed by at least one independent source, not enough corroboration to be considered actual journalism, but hey…cultivating sources for a brand new website is tougher than you may think.
That doesn’t mean you should overtly lie just to help your stat counter, though…which is exactly what thedirty.com has done, in this particular instance.
