Gap-toothed clown Michael Strahan wasted no time in his new gig as a FOX NFL talking head Tuesday before he started offering his hamfisted ‘advice’ to his former employer, the New York football Giants.
When asked what he thinks the Giants should do with disgruntled crybaby Jeremy Shockey, Strahan said the team should get rid of the TE.
“He doesn’t want to play here; that’s obvious with everything that’s going on,” Strahan told Newsday Tuesday after being introduced as the newest cast member on ‘Fox NFL Sunday’.
“I don’t think you gain much by keeping a guy around. Regardless of how well he plays for you, there’s always that tension, and that’s one thing you can’t have if you’re expected to go back and repeat.”
“You don’t need that out of one of your leaders,” the recently retired defensive end said. “So I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is if they have the opportunity, let him go.”
Strahan was then asked about Plaxico Burress’ contract situation:
“It’s a one-way contract, so the players, you have no rights,” he said. “They can come in and say, ‘You suck, get out of here,’ but I can't walk into the team and say, ‘You know, this team really sucks. I want to go somewhere else.’ ”
Unlike his media-whore predecessor Tiki Barber, Strahan is clearly speaking at the behest of his former teammates. Looks like Strahan is the new network mouthpiece for his friends and their contract disputes.
FOX knows there are 31 other teams in the NFL, right? Once Strahan runs out of grenades to lob at the Giants, what good will he be?
We bet a Favre-back-to-the-NFL story isn’t far behind.
