Chicago Cubs leftfielder Alfonso Soriano was hit in the left hand by a pitch from Braves starter Jeff Bennett in the 2nd inning of tonight’s game at Wrigley Field.
Soriano left the game immediately for a pinch-runner and was taken to the hospital for X-rays.
UPDATE: Soriano has a minimally displaced fracture of the fourth metacarpal (pinky) in his left hand.
In his post-game news conference, manager Lou Piniella said Soriano would be out at least 6 weeks.
