Yannick Noah is perplexed by “all that fuss” surrounding the arrest of his basketball player son Joakim, who was charged with marijuana possession and having an open container of alcohol this past weekend.
The elder Noah, of course, famously admitted to frequent and unapologetic marijuana use way back when he was relevant.
While marijuana use is perfectly acceptable in France here, in GWB’s America, it is still strongly stigmatized. To some, this incident and its ‘fatherly’ response may point to some of the problems Joakim had as a rookie.
With the Bulls, Noah seemed to have a real problem with authority. He disliked the fact that everyone didn’t kiss his ass, like they did in Gainesville. He has his head so high in a cloud of pot smoke, he didn’t realize veterans may not take to a rookie making so much money that has zero respect for the natural chain of command. His teammates took him to task and actually lengthened his team imposed one game suspension for yelling at an assistant coach. That’s not the sign of guys who like you, or who will have your back during a tough playoff run.
If his fucking father didn’t teach him respect for authority, why should anyone be surprised that he has no respect for authority?
