Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft choice Rashard Mendenhall was robbed at gunpoint while walking along the Chicago's lakefront, according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.
The former Illini running back was with another companion along the South Side walkway when he was robbed of his wallet, phone and cash, sources familiar with the investigation told the newspaper.
How “early” Monday morning? Not that anyone deserves to be assaulted, but if you’re walking along the lakefront on the South Side of Chicago in the middle of the night…you take your safety into your own hands.
Mendenhall is from the white-bred North Shore city of Skokie, so he might not have realized how dangerous that part of the city can be. When you’re a 1st rounder, you feel empowered to take stupid risks. Mendenhall won’t find himself South of Roosevelt any time soon.
