People close to Mike D’Antoni tell the New York Post that the reason the coach chose the Knicks over the Chicago was because Bulls’ chairman Jerry Reinsdorf reminded him too much of Suns owner Robert Sarver.
Reinsdorf wanted Phoenix to assume some payment of D’Antoni’s Chicago contract. The Suns would have had to pay D’Antoni a significant buyout of they just fired him, but in an attempt to save some dough, Sarver allowed his coach to negotiate with other clubs.
This is getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous.
Money has always been the problem with the Chicago Bulls. Let’s face it…they lucked into MJ & Phil.
They attract, but don’t land key free agents…they attract, but can’t land big-time coaches…they have a GM with zero pervious front-office experience…the dismantled the greatest sports dynasty in the last 40 years, and basically dumped the preeminent team sports athlete in the history of Mother Earth.
It all boils down to one thing.
C’mon, you already know what it is.
